What is Laravel development?

Laravel is an open-source PHP framework for building web applications. It gives developers a well-tested structure for the things almost every application needs: routing, authentication, database access through the Eloquent ORM, validation, background queues, scheduled jobs, email and notifications, file storage and automated testing. Instead of writing these from scratch, a team can focus on the rules that make your business different.

Laravel development, then, is the work of turning your processes into software on that foundation. Typical projects we see include B2B ordering portals, franchise and distributor management systems, appointment and resource booking, lead routing tools, multi-tenant SaaS products and APIs that feed mobile apps.

Who needs Laravel development?

Laravel is not the right tool for every website. A five-page brochure site is usually better on a CMS. Laravel earns its place when:

  • Your team is running core operations on spreadsheets, WhatsApp groups and email threads, and errors are creeping in.
  • You need different user roles, for example admin, sales rep, distributor and customer, each seeing different data.
  • You need to connect several systems: payment gateways, Tally or another accounting tool, courier APIs, SMS or WhatsApp Business API, or a CRM.
  • A WordPress site has been stretched with so many plugins that every update feels risky.
  • You are building a product you intend to sell as a subscription.

Manufacturers and PCD pharma companies around Mohali and Baddi, for instance, often need order and scheme management for distributors that no plugin handles well. That kind of workflow is a natural fit.

How it works

Specification before code

Custom software fails most often because nobody wrote down what it should do. We start with user roles, the key workflows written as simple step-by-step stories, the data you need to store, and what "done" looks like for the first release. This becomes a scoped backlog.

Architecture choices

We keep the stack as simple as the problem allows. For admin-heavy apps, Filament or Laravel Nova can deliver a capable back office quickly. For interactive front ends we choose between Blade with Livewire, Inertia with Vue or React, or a separate front end consuming an API, based on how dynamic the interface needs to be and who will maintain it. Heavy tasks such as report generation, imports and notifications go onto queues so the interface stays responsive.

Build in short cycles

Work is delivered in one- or two-week cycles on a staging server. Each cycle ends with something you can click through. We write feature tests with Pest or PHPUnit for the rules that matter, like pricing calculations and permissions, so later changes do not quietly break them.

Deploy and operate

Applications are deployed with a repeatable process, using tools such as Laravel Forge or a CI pipeline, with environment secrets kept out of the code repository. We set up error tracking, log monitoring, database backups and scheduled job checks. We follow the upgrade guidance in the official Laravel documentation and keep applications on versions that still receive security fixes.

Sometimes the honest answer is a SaaS tool plus a small integration. We will say so if that is the case. For broader software needs such as CRM or ERP projects, see our IT solutions work.

What does Laravel development cost?

Custom software is priced on effort, so the cost depends on scope rather than page count. Key drivers:

  • Number of user roles and workflows. Each role adds screens, permissions and test cases.
  • Integrations, especially with older systems that lack good APIs.
  • Data migration from spreadsheets or a legacy database, including clean-up.
  • Front-end complexity, from simple admin forms to highly interactive interfaces.
  • Non-functional needs such as audit logs, multi-tenancy, high availability or strict data retention.

We usually work in one of three ways: a fixed-price first release for a tightly defined MVP; a time-and-materials sprint model where you fund a set number of development cycles and reprioritise as you learn; or a dedicated developer retainer for ongoing product work and maintenance.

How long does it take?

A focused internal tool with a couple of roles can reach a usable first release within a couple of months. Larger platforms with integrations and migrations typically take longer and are best released in stages. We would rather launch a smaller version that people actually use than spend a year building features nobody asked for.

What to expect in the first 90 days

  1. First fortnight: discovery sessions, user stories, data model sketch and a prioritised backlog with estimates.
  2. Weeks 3–8: authentication, roles and the core workflow built and demoed on staging each cycle.
  3. Weeks 8–11: integrations, reports, data import scripts and user acceptance testing with your staff.
  4. Weeks 11–13: production deployment, monitoring, a training session and a list of agreed next-phase features.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Skipping tests to save time. Untested pricing or permission logic is where the most expensive bugs hide.
  • Staying on an old Laravel version. Falling several major versions behind turns routine upgrades into a rewrite. Plan a small upgrade budget each year.
  • Putting everything in controllers. Business logic scattered across controllers and views becomes impossible to change safely. We use actions or service classes for reusable rules.
  • Ignoring queues. Sending emails or generating PDFs during a web request makes pages slow and fragile under load.
  • Hardcoding credentials. API keys belong in environment configuration, never in the repository.
  • No product owner on your side. Someone in your business must be able to make decisions quickly, or the project drifts.

Rescue and upgrade projects

If you have inherited a Laravel application that no one fully understands, we start with a code audit: framework version, dependency health, test coverage, security issues and deployment process. You receive a prioritised list of what to fix first. For businesses in the region, our web development team for Mohali companies can also meet in person by appointment. If your need is simpler, our wider web development services may be a better starting point.

What you get

  • User stories, data model and prioritised backlog
  • Laravel application in a private Git repository you own
  • Role-based admin panel and user interfaces
  • Documented REST API where mobile apps or partners need access
  • Automated feature tests for critical business rules
  • Deployment pipeline, backups and error monitoring
  • Technical documentation and a handover session for your team

How we deliver Laravel Development

    Architecture

Choose the front-end approach, admin tooling, integrations and hosting that fit the problem and your team.

  3. 03

    Sprints

Build in short cycles with demos on staging and tests written for the rules that matter.

  4. 04

    Launch

Migrate data, train users, deploy to production and switch on monitoring and backups.

  5. 05

    Evolve

Plan the next phase from real usage, and keep the framework and dependencies up to date.

Laravel Development FAQs

Why use Laravel instead of building in plain PHP?

Plain PHP means writing and securing everything yourself: sessions, password hashing, CSRF protection, database queries and validation. Laravel provides tested versions of all these, a consistent project structure and a large ecosystem. That makes it quicker to build, easier for another developer to pick up, and less likely to contain common security mistakes.

Can Laravel handle a large number of users?

Yes, when the application is designed sensibly. Scalability usually depends more on database indexing, caching, queues and hosting than on the framework. Laravel supports Redis caching, horizontal scaling behind a load balancer and background workers. We design for your realistic load and leave room to grow rather than over-engineering on day one.

Can you take over a Laravel project another developer started?

Usually, yes. We begin with a paid code audit that reviews the framework version, dependencies, tests, security and deployment setup. You then get a clear picture of whether to continue, refactor specific areas or, occasionally, rebuild. We never recommend a rewrite unless the audit shows it is genuinely cheaper over time.

Will my Laravel app work with our mobile app?

Laravel works well as the back end for Android, iOS and cross-platform apps. We expose a versioned REST API with token authentication, typically using Laravel Sanctum, so the website and app share the same data and business rules. That avoids maintaining two separate systems that drift out of sync.

How do you keep a Laravel application secure after launch?

We apply framework and package security updates, run dependency audits, keep secrets in environment configuration, enforce HTTPS, rate-limit logins and APIs, and log important admin actions. Regular backups are tested by actually restoring them. Security is ongoing work, which is why we recommend a maintenance plan for any business-critical application.
